June 30, 2021 – Viceroy’s due diligence often includes communication with stakeholders. $RECO was no different.
It has come to our attention that Ms Shino, who agreed to partake in an interview with Viceroy, has denied that this interview took place, and denied that there is any truth to our report. This is both fascinating and embarrassing.
Accordingly, Viceroy find it prudent to publish evidence of the interview, which was conducted on 22 June (ET). The whole length of the interview was approximately 35 mins. We have extracted entire segments (without adjustments) of pertinent discussion points.
We note that this interview (and all communications with Ms Shino) were conducted after NAMGOV directed the MME to develop a “communication strategy to address misinformation” relating to RECO. A full transcript of the interview will be made available shortly.
Recording #1 – ReconAfrica’s JOA with the Namibian Government
Ms Shino explains the terms and obligations of ReconAfrican’s JOA announced with the Namibian Government as well as how widespread these JOAs are in Namibia. Each license holder signs one, generally 90 days following the signing of the license.
Recording #2 – Knowledge Katti’s Involvement
Ms Shino explains that the Ministry of Mines and Energy were not aware of Knowledge Katti’s involvement with ReconAfrica despite widespread media coverage and Katti’s local infamy.
Recording #3 – Unconventional Resources and Fracking
Ms Shino unequivocally states that there will never be any fracking on Namibian soil.
Recording #4 – Stages of Exploration
Ms Shino explains that ReconAfrica’s exploration is still at a very early stage and therefore unable to confirm if such a project would be commercially viable
Recording #5 – Closing Remarks
Closing remarks in which Ms Shino states her commitment to due process and investigation and Viceroy state our position on the company and commitment to assist the authorities within our capacity.
