Blue Moon Metals - NEA confirms investigation into Nussir’s permits

Blue Moon’s assurances that the Engebø case will not impact Nussir has been refuted by Norway’s Environmental Agency.

September 11, 2026 – The Norwegian Environment Agency just blew a hole in Blue Moon's claim that Førdefjord has no bearing on Nussir.

Five months ago, the Agency approved Nussir's revised waste-management plan without reassessing the underlying sea-disposal authorization. That approval is now the thing Blue Moon keeps pointing to as proof Nussir's permitting is settled.

In an interview with local news website Hammerfestingen, the Agency has now confirmed it is now examining whether the justification behind Nussir's sea-disposal permit is adequate or contains defects that need correcting.

Blue Moon has previously dismissed the Supreme Court's Førdefjord ruling as irrelevant to Nussir. While Førdefjord doesn't determine Nussir's outcome on its own, it has created a precedent the regulator is now actively applying to Nussir's permit.
